Indianola is about the events as they occurred in chronological order. The chronological method enables the reader to become immersed in the evolving life of the port and see those events through the eyes of the residents there, who knew not what the outcome would be---hurricane destruction and abandonment. Neglected, even overlooked, by historians in this century, Indianola must be restored to her rightful place in the annals of Texas. The eyes of Texas must be refocused on the vastly important role she played in its development as Republic and State.
